Orangette turns one
It all started a year ago today. I tiptoed out onto a big, black screen and tossed up a few tentative words, and 365 days, 121 posts, 1 digital camera, a crowd of faces and names, tons of trial and error, and one birthday spiff-up later, here we are. I’d spare us all the “You’ve come a long way, baby,” but really, we have come a long way, baby. For such a little blog, Orangette has been an enormous adventure.
And it would have been a very lonely, bland one without you, dear reader, and your enthusiasm, support, and—most importantly—hunger.
Thank you for coming along with me.

HApPY BIrtHDay Orangette!
miss molly, you continue to amaze. orangette is gorgeous and inspirational and continues to blossom. you have only your talent and adorableness to blame for my frantic, ingredient-needy, phone calls and the fact that i regularly dive into the archives for your winning hearts and minds recipes from bangalore, mexico city, and even the far reaches of bellevue. congratulations and much love cherie,
kate
Congratulations!! A year goes by so fast, huh? I didn't realize our blogs were so close in age...mine has a birthday this Sunday! Keep up the good work!
Felicitations, Molly! I've been enjoying your blog and your recipes anonymously for a while and have found some additional inspiration in your stories and recipes. Amusez-vous bien aujourd'hui... et pour une autre belle annee!
Congratulations on the milestone, and the birthday face spiff up looks lovely. Brava!
Happy Birthday! Wishing you many, many more!
Happy birthday! I read many food blogs, but so far yours is the only one that's inspired me enough to try its recipes.
Happy Birthday little Orangette! Here's to many years to come! And you're just getting prettier and prettier, aren't you?;-) Love the picture!
Many happy returns of the day! I've enjoyed so many delicious new recipes, thanks to Orangette. Evidence: After rave reviews when I tried the recipe for a birthday party last month, I'm planning to make the far-from-disaster chocolate cake again, in cupcake form, for a BBQ this weekend. Thanks again!
Happy Birthday! Your blog is a very wonderful thing that I am very glad I stumbled onto. Keep up the good cooking and the lovely words.
Happy Birthday Orangette! You have crafted a truly wonderful site. Thanks for all your hard work!
Orangette has been a pleasure to stumble across and browse in. Congrats on one delicious year.
Felicitations, Molly et Orangette. Even though I'm a fairly new reader, I must admit that I've read a large portion of the archives. Reading yours (and the few other short-list of "must read" food blogs) has given me more ideas and courage in the kitchen than I ever thought I'd find through someone else's account of how they cook. I'm a better cook because of people like you! And the French touch doesn't hurt either. Oh, and my Quel est ton probleme? just had it's first birthday as well, although it's much more rudimentary and silly!
Many new recipes (white-bean hummus, warm chick-pea salad, and roasted cauliflower to name a few favorites); a sourdough baby; and, most importantly, a new friendship. Thank you, Orangette!
As we say over here on such occasions:
Grattis på födelsedagen!
Happy Birthday Orangette!!!!!
Congrats on this momentus day :)
I LOVE the new banner
Hi Molly, many congratulations on your anniversary and on the lovely new banner. You are a most lovable person and it is a world of fun to read your posts every week.
Cheers,
Michele
Happy Happy Birthday! I certainly hope to be reading your inspiring posts a year from now and a year after that... And beautiful new banner - Orangette is obviously much more chic and sophisticated now that she's a year old... :)
Best to you on your First Anniversary...and many happy returns of The Day!
I had no idea that's what an "orangette" is! That's one of my favorite things to eat in the world.
Happy anniversary....
-David
bonne anniversaire! whoo hoo molly, keep up the amazingness!
Happy Birthday! Your blog is superb and has been a joy to read. One of the best. Bravo!
Many happy returns -- and I mean that literally. I always look forward to seeing a new post on Orangette, and getting some insight into what Molly is thinking/doing/eating. Congratulations on being dressed in your beautiful new birthday best, as well. Long may Orangette wave!
Awww! Now, I've been known to blush, but really, this time it's almost comical. My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you--to those who leapt out of lurking just to send their congratulations, and to those with whom I have the enormous pleasure of dialoguing on a regular basis. What a year it's been, and what a wonderful community we foodies make.
Happy happy birthday Orangette, you are always my inspiration!
Ooooh Happy Birthday! I adore your blog! You're blog is a soap opera for food! Something always exciting and inspiring!
Happy first year! I've enjoying your blog for some time now. Look forward to much more!
Well, thank you, ladies! Foodiechickie, I absolutely love the idea of Orangette as a "soap opera for food"! I'm going to steal that, if you don't mind...
Happy (belated) B-day, Molly! Love the new banner! We'll have to have a little toast on Wednesday!
~ B
Thank you, B, and as for the toast, yes please!
Joyeux anniversaire, cher Orangette!
After a long wait, I finally have my very own kitchen in which to try some more of your recipes!
I anticipate the day when I can read a food column or book written by you.
Go right ahead Molly. I am honored you would use it. Heh heh.
Happy Birthday to you!!!!
Merci bien, Anna! Someday, when I have a doubting editor to win over, I'll refer them to your comment! In the meantime, enjoy your new kitchen.
Foodiechickie, thanks for the go-ahead!
And Megan, thank you. Didn't iheartbacon have a birthday recently?
I'd like to add my birthday greetings as well, Molly. G'day from Oz and many happy returns!
Look, I hope you don't mind, but I found your blog using cooks recipes as a search term. I'm trying to find original articles and recipes for my cooking websites.
I can and do use the article directories, but much of the stuff in them is hardly original and gets widely used. I'm hoping to persuade people like you, who have an interest in cooking, to contribute as well. I use a wide variety of articles and styles - just so long as it's food orientated - and I think the kind of things you write about in Orangette would be very popular :0)
The quid pro quo is a link back to your blog - or website if you have one. If this doesn't interest you, please forgive the intrusion. If it does, I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Michael Sheridan
